FTL was founded in October of 1977.


The original goals and guiding principles of FTL still hold the focus of the organization today.


The primary goal of FTL is the development of superluminal transportation, data commutation, subluminal transportation, and artifical atmosheric habitation systems. To this end, the commercialization of space and the development and promulgation of a vast variety of designs, concepts, processes, protocols, services, and products are necessary.
FTL maintains a mature organization of program and project managers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
FTL actively maintains a very long range goal oriented planning structure that includes:

Short term (0-1 year)
Mid-term (>1 year-5 year)
Long term (>5 years-20 years)
Extended term (>20 years-100 years)
Foundation term (>100 years-1000+ years).


FTL has two primary divisions: one is simply FTL, the other is FTL Foundation.

The FTL division is focused on technological research, development, and manufacturing, of space transport/habitat systems, technologies, services, and mechanisms; however there are no restriction upon non-space-related endeavors profitable endeavors..

FTL is a for-profit organization.

The FTL Foundation is a private foundation whos primary impetus is not profit. While FTL focuses skyward, the FTL Foundation focuses upon earth-bound enterprizes aimed at sustainability, cohesive human-nature existence programs and technologies, and the improvement of the Human Condition in concert with environmental sensitivity. FTL Foundation primarily focuses upon human health, poverty/standard-of-living, clean power and other clean resources. The FTL Foundation has access to the full resources of FTL.
